The Key Protocols Of Video Streaming Technology

The world of video streaming is experiencing migration from the analogue to digital solutions.

This is because the analogue video streaming for surveillance systems do not have distinct qualities as the digital system. The analogue video transmission system is gradually fading out.

The digital video technology allows for series of operations that the analogue system does not have.

The need to put the video in line with the current trend of the industry paved way for a system that is rich in advanced content features such as the detection of motion and recognition of faces.

In online video streaming, several network protocols are used. Protocols function like languages recognized by a particular streaming technology.

These protocols allow for the flow of information between the streaming technology and the computer clients connected to the network.

The key protocols of online video streaming technology are:

SDP

SDP means Session Description Protocol. It gives clients on the network a lucid description of the multimedia session of the video content.

The protocol highlights the particular session of the multimedia video content.

This information helps the clients to take decision whether to join the session or not. The protocol works well with the internet, Local Area Network (LAN)  and the Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN).

DHCP

DHCP, as it is, stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. Devices connected to the network are provided with IP address by this protocol automatically.

It shows that it is the responsibility of this protocol to allot IP address to every client on the network.

The DHCP actually works with the network server to perform this task.

Though the protocol allows for easy coordination of the network by the administrator, the DHCP does not provide security to the network against third party.

This means that files on the network are not secure as computer clients can feign identities very easily.

RTSP

RTSP stands for Real Time Streaming Protocol and it helps to transport media content over the network.

It is the main protocol of the streaming technology as it facilitates the streaming of online video contents easily among the clients.

It allows computer clients to have random control of the video content over the network. The protocol can make available video contents from different servers and it is user friendly.

HTTP

HTTP means Hypertext Transfer Protocol. It is an embodiment of rules governing the transfer of files between or among several servers on the web network.

 This protocol allows for the exchange of video content and other information by different servers using the web platform.

HTTP works with Web browsers. When these browsers are opened, HTTP commands appear on them and video contents are easily shared by users on the network using TCP or IP interface to communicate with the server where the content is domiciled.

TCP

TCP is the acronym of Transmission Control Protocol. The protocol ensures that video contents are transported to their destination in the correct order.

 It also helps the user to access any missing video by asking for permission to retransmit the missing content.

TCP has been found to be very reliable as it enhances the easy flow of video content over the network and it works well even under varied network conditions.

It also helps to connect firmly every device to the network so that files and other contents can be shared by clients.
